Okay then, so Lancaster City might have been sitting pretty with their Giant Axe stadium being one of the best names in the country. But they might have to step aside now.
I’d initially confused the Eagle Valley Complex due to it also housing Notts County’s training ground, although slap bang in the middle is a small fenced off stadium, complete with a couple of stands.
One, the Ivan Long Stand, is a bog standard prefabricated number but being named at least lends it a little charm. The other side is smaller again but it’s all brand spanking new.
There are some old school gates, but my battery ran out before I could get a picture. I’m not sure if these are locked on a night – if so then it might be a tricky one for the casual visitor, although it’s pretty visible from the main road.
Due to a Notts County youth game being in progress whilst I was there I had a great time, and I suspect as long as the front gates are open you should have fun there too.
