Originally this ground was home to Blackpool Mechanics, which is one of the great names in football, however the club merged with Squires Gate Junior in 2008 and became AFC Blackpool.
Thankfully the name lived on as their Jepson Way ground, situated by the end of the runway at Blackpool Airport, was renamed as a nod to the club’s heritage.
It’s a cracking little non-league ground, with four stands, and very easy to like. I hit lucky on my visit in that a turnstile was open. I was able to poke my head in for a look around but I’m not sure how much is visible usually.
There’s a gate on your way in – if that’s locked then you’ll struggle to see much but even if just that is open then you’ll have a blast. But I can only speak as I find and so I found it a brilliant visit.

Woodhorn Lane Update
Brickwork coming along wonderfully at Ashington, and the stand also seems to have a proper roof now, too. Despite a week of awful weather it’s nice to see progress continuing.
